Early Week 18 bets: Ravens-Steelers to be a slugfest, Drake Maye for MVP

0

The NFL playoff picture is coming into focus, with 12 teams having locked up spots and the remaining two spot to be determined in winner-take-all matchups in Week 18.

The Carolina Panthers hit the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the NFC South title at stake, and the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night with the AFC North up for grabs. The winners of those games will be in the playoffs and have a home game, the loser will be out.

Other key matchups will determine playoff seeding, including the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers meeting with the top seed in the NFC on the line. The loser will have to play a road playoff game.

Matt Bowen, Joe Fortenbaugh, Pamela Maldonado, Eric Moody and Seth Walder looked at the early Week 18 odds and identified which ones are worth jumping on now before potential shifts later in the week.

Note: Odds by DraftKings Sportsbook and subject to change.

Bowen: Assuming Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ top offensive skills players are up for this one, I’ll take Dallas to cover the spread. Prescott has thrown for multiple touchdowns in back-to-back games, and he’ll have matchups to target at the second and third level of the field. Big plays here.
Last week: Steelers -4.5 at Browns (Browns won, 13-6)

Ravens at Steelers UNDER 41.5 (-110)

Fortenbaugh: This opened at 43 and was immediately steamed south for several reasons. For starters, did you see how Pittsburgh looked Sunday without DK Metcalf? Six total points on 4.5 yards per play against a Cleveland Browns defense that surrendered 31 points at home to the Tennessee Titans back on December 7. To make matters worse, Steelers tight end Darnell Washington sustained a broken arm in Sunday’s loss to the Browns. Worth noting is the fact that the last 11 meetings between the Steelers and Ravens have produced an average of just 34.5 total points per game. Rock fight incoming!

Titans at Jaguars OVER 46.5 (-115)

Maldonado: The Jags can carry the total on its own, averaging 27 points per game, 35 in their last three, converting in the red zone, and not going conservative when ahead. The Titans have been on an offensive surge in the last few games, more than functional. Cam Ward is showing as of late that he’s capable of pushing the Titans into scoring range when game script forces volume, which is all the over needs.
Last week: Cowboys-Commanders over 50.5 (Cowboys won, 30-23)

Browns at Bengals OVER 44.5 (-110)

Moody: The Bengals are expected to play their starters in Week 18, including Joe Burrow. Cincinnati has scored 82 points in its last two games, and the Browns should put up points against a Bengals defense that has allowed the second-most points per game this season.
Last week: Lions -6 at Vikings (Vikings won, 23-10)

Walder: He just recorded the highest QBR game in the metric’s history (since 2006) with a 99.8 against the New York Jets on Sunday. That moves him up to being the clear leader in QBR on the season, three points clear of the next-highest player (Jordan Love). And with the San Francisco 49ers winning Sunday night, the Los Angeles Rams were knocked out of contention for the NFC West. While that shouldn’t really matter, the fact that Los Angeles will only be a wild card while the Patriots won their division and still have a chance at the No. 1 seed will likely hurt Matthew Stafford‘s case in some voters’ minds.

Turn your PC into a Super Nintendo with Epilogue’s new USB dock

0

After announcing and teasing its design well over a year ago, Epilogue’s new SN Operator will finally be available for preorder starting tomorrow. Like the company’s GB Operator that debuted in early 2021, the SN Operator is a standalone USB cartridge slot that lets you play and archive old Nintendo console games on PCs, Macs, or handhelds like the Steam Deck using their original carts. But where the GB Operator was built for Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and GBA games, the SN Operator instead supports any Super Nintendo and Super Famicom game.

Preorders for the SN Operator will open at 12PM ET on December 30th for $59.99. That’s $10 more expensive than the smaller GB Operator, which will remain available too. The hardware is expected to ship in April 2026.

The cartridge slot connects to computers or handhelds over USB and works alongside Epilogue’s accompanying Playback app. The app features a built-in SNES emulator for playing your original cartridges, but you can use other emulators if you already have one you prefer. Games that relied on accessories like Nintendo’s Super NES Mouse or the Super Scope are also compatible with Playback and will use your computer mouse instead of those peripherals.

On top of new console support, the SN Operator includes another function that should appeal to retro gaming fans with large collections of aging and degrading cartridges. The Playback app can authenticate cartridges so you know for sure if that rare title you found at a flea market is real or a bootleg. It can also create digital copies of your cartridges including their save game data so you can archive your collection and keep on playing where you originally left off, even if your original cartridges stop working. The SN Operator will work with any cartridge that can be played in Nintendo’s original hardware, including bootlegs you accidentally purchased. But Epilogue does specify you should only backup cartridges you own — so no using this to borrow and copy a giant collection from a friend.

Raiders players steadfast that focus on winning, not No. 1 pick

LAS VEGAS — Raiders players’ displeasure regarding the talk of tanking hovering over the organization intensified after a 34-10 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

Though the team’s chance of securing the No. 1 pick in next year’s NFL draft moved to 80% after the loss, according to ESPN Analytics, that was the last thing on some players’ minds after a 10th straight defeat dropped the Raiders to 2-14.

“I hate that’s what people are saying or thinking,” Raiders defensive tackle Jonah Laulu said. “We’re not trying to lose. I’m trying to go out and do my best because I don’t know if I’m going to be here next year.”

Before Sunday’s game, the organization appeared to be focused on the future. It placed tight end Brock Bowers, safety Jeremy Chinn and defensive end Maxx Crosby on injured reserve. Crosby, who is expected to need knee surgery, left the facility Friday after he was informed of the team’s decision.

Crosby said before the Raiders shut him down that he didn’t care about the No. 1 pick; his focus was on playing at his best and helping the team.

Cornerback Eric Stokes, one of the Raiders’ few bright spots on defense, said Sunday he agreed with Crosby.

“If y’all are trying to tank, don’t throw it my way then,” Stokes told ESPN. “The same thing Maxx said, I’m trying to be the best person I can be. If anybody is trying to tank, y’all might as well take me out, too.”

Still, players recognize the current state of the team and how having the No. 1 pick could help put it in the right direction.

“We’ve got a lot of young guys that are really good,” Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker said. “… We’re super close but far away at the same time.”

The Raiders will secure the No. 1 pick with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs next weekend, a game in which Las Vegas starting quarterback Geno Smith is unlikely to play. He suffered a high ankle sprain at the 12:41 mark of the fourth quarter after throwing his second interception and was immediately taken to the locker room. Backup Kenny Pickett played the rest of the game.

Raiders coach Pete Carroll said Smith will have an MRI on Monday, but didn’t sound confident in the 35-year-old’s availability for the Week 18 contest.

“That’s pretty hard to bounce back [from],” Carroll said.

Smith completed 20 of 28 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown against the Giants. The two interceptions increased his 2025 total to 17 — his most in a season since he recorded 21 as a rookie for the New York Jets in 2013.

Carroll, meanwhile, said he still believes that he has support from ownership, even amid the worst season of his head coaching career.

“From all the guys I’ve talked to, I do feel like I have their support,” Carroll said. “What does that mean? I don’t know, but our conversations have been really good.”

Carroll, however, did not comment on whether those conversations with ownership have given him confidence that he will return to Las Vegas for a second season. He signed a three-year deal with a fourth-year team option last January after a year away from football, following his 14-year tenure with the Seattle Seahawks.

“We’re getting along great. We’re communicating really well,” Carroll said.

Moviegoers were changed for good this year.

Several blockbuster sequels cast a spell on theater audiences in 2025, and you won’t be surprised to learn that the top 15 money-making films of the year include Zootopia 2, Jurassic World: RebirthMission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, The Conjuring: Last Rites, Captain America: Brave New World and Wicked: For Good—which each earned over $440 million worldwide.

And live action adaptations of popular franchises also came in hot, with Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie becoming the third- and fourth-highest grossing movies of the year, as they each took in about $1 billion at the box office.

But the sequel that claimed the No. 1 global spot is a flick that many Americans haven’t yet seen, considering it made just $23 million in the U.S.

So, which one took the crown as the highest-grossing movie of 2025? That would be Ne Zha 2, a Chinese animated film that raked about $2.2 billion worldwide (that’s nearly double the runner-up, Zootopia 2, which banked about $1.3 billion).

Inside the Week 18 battle for the AFC North at the sportsbooks

0

After the Baltimore Ravens lost to the New England Patriots in Week 16, their hopes of winning the AFC North almost completely evaporated. To have any chance, they would need to beat the playoff-bound Green Bay Packers on the road and have the Pittsburgh Steelers lose to the hapless Cleveland Browns in Week 17.

As fate would have it, both of those results came to fruition, as the Ravens and Browns overcame underdog status to win their games and set up a winner-take-all showdown for the AFC North between Baltimore and Pittsburgh in Week 18. At DraftKings, the Ravens opened as 3-point road favorites against the Steelers.

Going into Week 17, Pittsburgh held commanding -1400 odds to win the division compared to +800 for the Ravens. DraftKings reports that in the last week, 87% of handle came in on the Ravens for the AFC North, while BetMGM said that it received 83% of money backing Baltimore in the same time period, though the Ravens are still its smallest liability for the division overall.

It’s been quite the odyssey for the Ravens to get to this point. After entering the season as the odds-on favorites, they briefly relinquished favorite status to Pittsburgh ahead of Week 7, before returning to the top of the odds board for several weeks. Then, the Steelers’ head-to-head win over Baltimore in Week 14 propelled them ahead until their loss to Cleveland.

With the division on the line, the Ravens opened at -170 on the moneyline. Despite some injury concerns surrounding Lamar Jackson, bookmakers are comfortable keeping Baltimore as a field-goal favorite.

“We don’t feel there is much difference between [backup QB Tyler] Huntley and this version of Jackson, what appears to be an injured version of Jackson,” John Murray, vice president of the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, told ESPN. “The Ravens offense looked as good as ever on Saturday, Huntley knows the offense well and Lamar hasn’t been right all season. Don’t see it making much of a difference.”

Joey Feazel, head of football at Caesars Sportsbook, sees a bit more contrast between Jackson and Huntley, saying that he anticipates the game moving closer to a pick ’em should the former be ruled out.

Ravens-Steelers won’t be the only game contested for a division title next week.

Entering Week 11, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were -1200 to win the NFC South, while the Carolina Panthers were +1200 — in Week 18, the two teams will face off for the division. The Bucs opened as 3.5-point home favorites for the showdown with the Panthers, according to DraftKings odds.

The matchup is the culmination of opposing trends for the division rivals. Tampa Bay has failed to cover the spread in eight consecutive games, the longest active ATS losing streak in the NFL and the longest in franchise history, per ESPN Research. Meanwhile, Carolina has come all the way back from a long of +2500 to win the NFC South in Week 5.

In another close division race, if the San Francisco 49ers defeat the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, they will face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18 for the NFC West title and the conference’s No. 1 seed.

NFL Odds & Ends

  • Despite lackluster matchups not shown on traditional TV outlets, the NFL topped the NBA on Christmas Day in terms of betting interest. At Caesars Sportsbook, the showcase NBA matchups only attracted close to half the amount of money that was bet on the least-bet NFL game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. “The NFL is still the king at the end of the day, as the three low-stakes NFL games easily surpassed the handle of all of the NBA games,” Feazel said.

  • Derrick Henry was DraftKings’ most-bet player to score 2+ touchdowns during Saturday’s two-game slate … he scored four in the Ravens’ huge win over the Packers.

  • Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase stated his goal openly heading into Week 17. “I think the biggest thing on the list is to score another touchdown … I think I’ve been overdue since Week 7,” Chase told reporters last week. Bettors at DraftKings, who were listening, were rewarded. More money was bet on Chase to score a touchdown on Sunday than on any other player at DraftKings. He caught two touchdowns in the Bengals’ 37-14 rout of the Arizona Cardinals.

  • With their thrilling win over the Buffalo Bills, the Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) have now won six straight games outright as an underdog including the playoffs, tied for the longest such streak since 2010, according to ESPN Research.

Ubisoft shuts down ‘Rainbow Six Siege’ servers following hack

0

Yesterday, Ubisoft confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege had been compromised and that it had shut down the game’s servers and marketplace while it resolved the issue. The hackers managed to gain control over a significant chunk of the game’s systems, including the ability to ban and unban users, sending custom messages to ban ticker, unlocking all in-game items, and granting every player 2 billion R6 Credits and Renown.

Ubisoft sells R6 credits in its store, pricing 15,000 of them at $99.99. That means the actual cash value of 2 billion R6 credits is about $13.33 million.

Ubisoft made it clear that nobody would be punished for spending any credits they received. But, any transactions made after 11:ooAM UTC on Saturday (6AM ET) will be rolled back to avoid abuse. At the time of this writing, service had yet to be restored. We’ve reached out to Ubisoft for comment and will update if and when they respond.

How Much Money Influencers Make: Instagram Paychecks

Car Crashes Into Food Influencers NinaUnrated and Patrick Blackwood While They’re in Restaurant

Money doesn’t grow on trees—but it does come from likes.

This year, #RichTok exploded on social media with content creators like Becca Bloom documenting their caviar-coated and Van Cleef-adorned lifestyles for all to see online.

Back in September, makeup influencer Mikayla Nogueira showed off her massive designer shopping haul, saying on TikTok she “completely blacked out” while buying dozens of luxury items—including bags, heels, sneakers, jewelry and clothing from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Miu Miu and more—totaling an estimated $186,000.

And when beauty influencer Jaclyn Hill recently asked why her videos weren’t getting the same engagement as usual, her followers were brutally honest: It’s about the money, honey.

“We’re tired of watching influencers rub their wealth in our faces,” one person commented on her Dec. 4 video, while another noted, “I can’t connect to a $10,000 purse or shoe haul when $10,000 would pay off all my loans and change my life.”
