Finding a gaming laptop under $1,000 can be tricky, especially since you’ll want something that doesn’t use a 5-year old GPU and only 8 GB of memory. That’s why I’d avoid the cheapest Victus laptop here, and bump up to at least the Victus 16t-r100. That gets you an RTX 4050 and 16 GB of RAM, despite costing only $150 more.

Meanwhile, the higher-end Omen models get you access to the new RTX 50-series graphics cards, and the new multi-frame generation feature that’s got everyone talking. They also come with a 16-inch 1920 x 1200 screen with a 240Hz refresh rate, such as the Omen Max gaming laptop.

Chase Burns to make MLB debut for Cincinnati Reds Tuesday

0

Chase Burns, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 MLB draft who has excelled at three levels of the minor leagues this season, will be promoted this week so that he can make his major league debut for the Cincinnati Reds.

Burns, a right-handed starter who is the No. 12 overall prospect in ESPN’s Top 50, will take the mound Tuesday at home against the New York Yankees.

Burns, 22, relies on an upper-90s fastball, and his 86-90 mph slider is possibly the best breaking ball in the minor leagues. He has made 13 starts in his professional career, the last of which came with Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds have had an up-and-down season, but at 39-38, they are still in the hunt for a National League wild-card berth, and Burns will bring added intrigue to the star-laden series against New York. Cincinnati has lost three in a row headed into Sunday’s series finale with the St. Louis Cardinals, before it opens a homestand with the Yankees Monday night.

Burns is 7-3 with a 1.77 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 66 minor-league innings. Prior to his 2024 selection, he pitched in both the SEC, for Tennessee Volunteers, and the ACC, for Wake Forest.

“We’re trying to give ourselves every chance to win and be in this, and right now, we feel like Chase gives us the best chance, and it’s time to go,” Reds general manager Brad Meador told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

While the Reds have been inconsistent offensively this season, their pitching has been solid. Through Friday’s loss, the Reds were 16th overall in team ERA at 3.90, and 10th with a 1.23 WHIP. But they placed left-hander Wade Miley on the injured list on Friday, and had to author a bullpen game on Saturday.

“Trying to figure out when the time is right is always the toughest part. You never know for sure when a guy’s ready,” Meador said. “But he’s obviously pitched as well as you could possibly hope in the first year of professional baseball, and he seems to be getting stronger. Even when a guy’s ready, you never know, but he’s passed every test. I don’t think he’s going to be overwhelmed by the situation, for sure.”

Pitching for Double-A Chattanooga this season, Burns went 6-1 with a 1.29 ERA in eight starts before landing in Louisville. On Tuesday at Great American Ball Park, he is likely to oppose New York’s Carlos Rodon, who is 9-5 this season with a 3.10 ERA.

Pics Of Japan’s Penis Festival, Kanamara Matsuri

0

In early April, scores of revelers gather in the city of Kawasaki, about 30 minutes south of Tokyo, to celebrate Kanamara Matsuri – Japan’s infamous penis festival, with a name translating roughly to Festival of the Steel Phallus. Kanamara Matsuri’s main festivities have taken place on the first Sunday of April since 1969 (yes, seriously).

At the festival centering on the um, organ and fertility, attendees get to erect gigantic penis statues on handheld shrines, enjoy penis-shaped lollipops, buy penis-shaped candles, and (obviously) dress as penises. There’s a seemingly endless array of phallic merch!

“Amazing. So fun, so unique, such a different experience,” one Australian tourist who went to this year’s gathering told Euronews. “It’s so weird coming from Australia to see something like this, but it looks like everyone’s having a great time.”

UFC: Jon Jones retires, Tom Aspinall upgraded to undisputed heavyweight champion

0

Manchester’s Tom Aspinall has been upgraded to undisputed heavyweight champion as the UFC announced Jon Jones had officially retired.

The decision, delivered by Dana White after a UFC Fight Night in Azerbaijan, brings to an end seven months of uncertainty in the heavyweight division.

Aspinall is just the third Briton to become a UFC champion and spent 19 months as interim champion.

“Jon Jones called us last night and retired,” White said.

“Jon Jones is officially retired. Tom Aspinall is the heavyweight champion of the UFC.

“Do I regret the time that I gave [Jones to decide]? Listen, if you look at what he’s accomplished in the sport, no.”

Jones, 37, claimed the heavyweight title in March 2023 and fought Stipe Miocic last November, despite Aspinall claiming the interim belt the year before.

Aspinall campaigned for a fight with Jones but the American decided against accepting the UFC’s offer.

Jones is considered one of the best mixed martial artists of all time but will turn 38 in July and said previously fighting Aspinall wouldn’t add to his “legacy”.

Aspinall reacted to the news on his social media, saying: “For you fans, it’s time to get this heavyweight division going. An active undisputed champion.”

The Englishman is expected to defend the title this summer or early autumn and is likely to face number-one contender Ciryl Gane.

Aspinall has not fought since July 2024 and has spent just three minutes and 22 seconds in the octagon since 2023.

“I obviously feel bad for Tom that he lost all that time and obviously money, but we’ll make it up to him,” said White.

“Tom Aspinall’s a good guy. He’s been incredible through this whole process.

“He’s been willing to do anything, fight him anywhere at any time and do this, and now he’s like ‘I’ll fight anybody – you tell me who and I’ll fight them’.”

Iran eyes 'all options' in response to 'outrageous' US strikes

US strikes

Iran early Sunday morning warned the United States’ attacks on three nuclear sites would have “everlasting consequences,” saying it is reviewing “all options” to respond to the US strikes.

US strikes to Iran :

“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior,” Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi posted on social media platform X.

Araghchi maintained Iran would be acting in “self-defense” with any retaliation to the us strikes authorized by President Trump, stating Tehran “reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people.”

The comments came roughly two hours after Trump warned of more attacks on Iran if it did not agree to a satisfactory peace deal in the wake of the U.S. bombing Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan. The president said the three Iranian nuclear facilities were “completely and totally obliterated” by Us strikes.

United Nations secretary-general António Guterres said he was “gravely alarmed” over the Trump administration’s use of force, adding, “This is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge – and a direct threat to international peace and security.”

Iran’s top diplomat on Sunday accused the U.S. of having “committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the [Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty] by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations.”

Trump’s decision to strike Iran came after more than a week of Israeli attacks against its biggest regional rival. Israel and the U.S. have said Iran’s nuclear enrichment program went beyond levels needed for civilian use and vowed to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump said in remarks at the White House, calling Saturday’s us strikes a “spectacular military success.”

Xbox’s VR headset with Meta could be released sooner than we thought

0

Xbox has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a chunky console. It’s recently taken on the form of an Asus gaming handheld, and it might even be packaged as a VR headset soon. According to an image leaked on X and Game Sandwich, Xbox is reportedly teaming up with Meta to release an Xbox-branded Quest 3S headset in the coming days. The rumored specs show a very similar build to the base model Quest 3S with 128GB of storage, but will reportedly be bundled with an Xbox wireless controller, a Meta Quest Elite strap and three months of Xbox Game Pass.

There’s been no official announcement from Xbox or Meta yet, but a blog post from 2024 noted that the two companies were working together to “create a limited-edition Meta Quest, inspired by Xbox.” While it’s important to take this rumor with a grain of salt, Xbox seems interested in opening up its hardware for collaboration with other companies, as indicated by the recent release of the ROG Xbox Ally.

As for the rumored Xbox version of the Meta Quest 3S, those who already own the base model headset might not be the target demographic since you can already run Xbox Game Pass on it. Instead, this VR headset could be marketed as a convincing entry point for anyone looking to get into VR and is already familiar with the Xbox ecosystem. According to Game Sandwich‘s sources, this Xbox-branded VR headset will cost $399 and is set to drop on June 24.

Jon Jones will be known for two things: Being great and not fighting Tom Aspinall

0

Jon Jones‘ retirement from mixed martial arts has felt more and more inevitable over the course of this year. And yet, it still blindsided the MMA world when UFC CEO Dana White broke the news on Saturday.

Months of speculation regarding Jones’ future came to an abrupt conclusion in Baku, Azerbaijan, of all places, where the UFC was hosting a Fight Night. White nonchalantly informed the world that the greatest mixed martial artist of all time had retired, putting an end to a potential heavyweight title unification bout between him and Tom Aspinall.

“Jon Jones called us last night and retired,” White told a group of reporters when asked directly about Jones. “Jon Jones is officially retired.”

For starters, what an odd way to announce the conclusion of the greatest career in UFC history.

It was the complete opposite of former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell’s retirement from the UFC in 2010. The UFC brought Liddell to a news conference in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, where he had the opportunity to make the announcement himself and answer questions from the media.

The UFC’s International Fight Week is this weekend in Las Vegas, a perfect occasion to give Jones the same opportunity and spotlight. Why wasn’t he? It might have something to do with the feeling around Jones’ retirement, which is undeniably “disappointment.”

The fact that Jones is retiring from the UFC as heavyweight champion and walking away from the unification bout against interim champ Aspinall — which had the potential to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history — is just so utterly disappointing. Think about how long this sport waited to see Jones move up to heavyweight, to take on that challenge after he beat nearly every light heavyweight there was to beat throughout his 15-fight title reign. The intrigue of a heavyweight run teased fans for years, only to have it finally happen and be a bit of a farce. A vacant title fight against an overmatched opponent in Ciryl Gane in 2023, and a single defense against a semi-retired, 42-year-old Stipe Miocic last year.

Now, here’s the part that fans and Jones’ critics probably don’t want to talk about: He doesn’t owe the world the Aspinall fight. He doesn’t owe the world anything. No one should blame him for a single decision he’s made in recent years regarding the fights he’s accepted, because they were all in his best interest as a champion. Any reasonable fighter would have made the same choices.

He got to cherry pick which path he’d take for a heavyweight championship, and he chose the path of least resistance with Gane. Then he was offered a very lucrative layup in the form of Miocic (no disrespect to Miocic, but he was basically a retired fighter at that point), and Jones took it. As he should.

The real misfire, however, has been the past seven months. He refused to retire but also refused to take the only fight that made any type of sense against Aspinall, and almost defiantly thumbed his nose at the UFC’s entire fanbase while refusing.

The consequence of that refusal is that people will remember this “utter disappointment” feeling and question his legacy, which already was complicated by legal issues, multiple arrests and failed drug tests. Even as the news of retirement was breaking on Saturday, the Albuquerque Journal reported criminal charges filed against Jones on June 17 for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident in February.

But in the Octagon, his records, his body of work and his legacy are untouchable. No one should say his fighting résumé is ruined for refusing to fight Aspinall. But because this saga went on so long and came to such a disappointing result, there is an extra sentence to Jones’ MMA legacy. And I do think it will be here permanently: “Jones was the greatest fighter who ever lived. And he did not want to fight Tom Aspinall.”

Jones did post a retirement message on social media after White’s comments, but he deserved better than that. He deserves his own Las Vegas news conference this week in the leadup to UFC 317, because a single sentence uttered by White at a news conference in Baku is not enough explanation. On a day when Jones’s career came to an end, we should be talking about all of the magical moments he had inside the Octagon, not the one fight he didn’t take.

Livvy Dunne’s Madelyn Cline “Gooner” Comment Meaning

0

This competition is more than just Kooks vs. Pogues for Olivia “Livvy” Dunne

The former Louisiana State University gymnast raised eyebrows when she responded to a joke about the upcoming College World Series with an NSFW comment about her and Madelyn Cline

In a message shared to X (formerly Twitter) June 19, Barstool CCU playfully compared the upcoming baseball matchup—which will see Livvy’s alma mater LSU face off against Coastal Carolina University, which shares its location with the setting in Madelyn’s show Outer Banks—to a competition between the model and the actress, writing, “This college world series is literally the Madelyn Cline vs. Livvy Dunne bowl.”

And in response to the post, Livvy, 22, took the joke to a much—er—spicier place, replying that a game between her and Madelyn, 27, would be the “Gooner World Series.”

Following the tweet, many fans expressed disbelief that the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model would use a slang word that can refer to an individual who practices a form of masturbation that involves edging for a long period of time.

Donald Trump says strikes on Iran a ‘spectacular military success’ in address

Donald Trump has said Iran “must now make peace” or face future attacks, after the US struck struck three Iranian nuclear facilities.

The US president said the strikes were a “spectacular military success” in a televised address to nation on Saturday.

Earlier, Iran’s foreign minister had warned that US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict would be “very, very dangerous”. You can follow our facebook page and visit our Homepage for latest news update
