Mark Zuckerberg – no, not that one

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder

A US lawyer with the same name as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is suing the social media platform, arguing it keeps suspending his account while falsely accusing him of “impersonating a celebrity”.

Mark S Zuckerberg says his account has been disabled five times over the past eight years, and it has cost him thousands of dollars in lost business.

The Indiana bankruptcy attorney’s lawsuit states that he has been practising law for 38 years – ever since Mark E Zuckerberg, now one of the richest men in the world, was a toddler.

Meta said it had reinstated the lawyer’s account and was taking steps to prevent the mistake recurring.

“It’s not funny,” Mr Zuckerberg told WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana. “Not when they take my money.”

The lawsuit, filed in Marion Superior Court, argues that Facebook parent company Meta is in breach of contract because he paid $11,000 (£8,200) for advertising that was improperly taken down.

“It’s like buying a billboard on the side of the highway, paying the people for the billboard and then they come and put a giant blanket over it and you don’t get the benefit of what you paid for,” he told WTHR.

Emails with Facebook that Mr Zuckerberg shared with local media indicate the company had accused him of not using his “authentic name”.

He said that he has submitted his photo ID, his credit cards, and multiple images of his face in order to prove his identity.

“I’m Mark Steven. And he’s Mark Elliot,” Mr Zuckerberg told WTHR.

His account was shut down in May, and only restored after his lawsuit was filed.

In a statement, the company said it had “reinstated Mark Zuckerberg’s account, after finding it had been disabled in error”.

“We appreciate Mr Zuckerberg’s continued patience on this issue and are working to try and prevent this from happening in the future.”

Mr Zuckerberg, who specialises in bankruptcy law, started a website to track mix-ups over his name, including the time he was inadvertently sued by the state of Washington for abuse.

Warnock slams RFK Jr. as 'the biggest threat to the health of the American people'

0

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) on Thursday slammed Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as “the biggest threat to the health of the American people.”

“Listen, we are in a tragically ironic moment in which the biggest threat to the health of the American people is the secretary of Health and Human Services, and I can think of no obligation more sacred for an American president than making sure that the people of this country are safe,” Warnock told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on his show, “Anderson Cooper 360.”

“Robert Kennedy is a hazard to our health, and he needs to be fired. It couldn’t co— it couldn’t happen sooner,” the Georgia Democrat added.

Warnock’s remarks echo those he made earlier Thursday at an intense Senate hearing, during which he dubbed Kennedy “a hazard to the health of the American people.”

Kennedy defended his time as the U.S.’s top health official during the hearing, swinging back at lawmakers who pushed him over the recent upheaval at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), based in Warnock’s home state, and changes to vaccine policy.

During around three hours of testimony, Kennedy repeated vaccine misinformation, went after the CDC and gave differing explanations on his vision for reshaping the agency.

“Frankly, I have seen enough. Secretary Kennedy should be fired immediately. He’s destroying the agency responsible for keeping diseases (like measles and Ebola) under control. This is deadly serious,” Warnock said in a post on the social platform X Thursday.

The Trump administration quickly spoke in Kennedy’s defense following the hearing, with Vice President Vance saying the senators challenging the HHS secretary were “full of s— and everyone knows it.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also defended Kennedy on X, saying that the HHS secretary “is taking flak because he’s over the target.”

“The Trump Administration is addressing root causes of chronic disease, embracing transparency in government, and championing gold-standard science. Only the Democrats could attack that commonsense effort,” Leavitt added.

The Hill has reached out to HHS for comment.

CoreWeave Just Gave This Data Center Stock a Big Boost. Should You Buy Shares Now?

Applied Digital (APLD) shares could be positioning for a significant move after the data center operator announced an expanded partnership with artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure company CoreWeave (CRWV) last week. Valued at a market cap of $4 billion, APLD stock is already up 274% in the previous 12 months.

Applied Digital finalized a new lease agreement for an additional 150 MW at its Polaris Forge 1 Campus in North Dakota, bringing its total anticipated contracted lease revenue to approximately $11 billion. This includes $7 billion from the initial 15-year leases executed in May.

“This new lease agreement with CoreWeave underpins our commitment to building the next generation of AI infrastructure right here in America’s heartland,” said CEO Wes Cummins. The expanded deal encompasses 400 MW of critical IT capacity across three long-term lease agreements, with the new data center expected to reach full capacity by 2027.

Applied Digital’s campus is engineered to scale up to 1 gigawatt over time, leveraging renewable power and North Dakota’s climate for sustainability advantages.

Applied Digital presents a compelling investment case for exposure to AI infrastructure in 2025. The CoreWeave partnership represents a game-changing moment for APLD stock. With $11 billion in total contracted revenue from long-term leases, Applied Digital has secured predictable cash flows that should drive future growth. The recent 150 MW expansion demonstrates CoreWeave’s confidence in APLD’s capabilities and validates the Polaris Forge 1 campus concept.

CEO Wes Cummins revealed that APLD has completed onboarding with three investment-grade hyperscalers and is in “advanced negotiations” with another major customer. This diversification beyond CoreWeave reduces concentration risk while positioning it to capture surging AI infrastructure demand.

APLD’s operational improvements are noteworthy. It has reduced build times from 24 months to 12-14 months while cutting SKUs by 50%, creating a competitive advantage in a market where speed matters. The North Dakota location offers compelling economics, with projected 30-year savings of $2.7 billion per 100 MW facility compared to traditional data center regions.

US Open 2025 results: Aryna Sabalenka fights back against Jessica Pegula to reach third straight New York final

0

It has been a disappointing season in terms of Grand Slam success for Sabalenka, considering she reached the final at the Australian and French Opens.

She also made it to the semi-finals at Wimbledon, but on all three occasions emotions got the better of the 27-year-old.

She cut an anguished figure throughout January’s Australian Open final, where she was out-hit by Madison Keys.

An unforced error count of 70 was her undoing against Coco Gauff at Roland Garros, while she was unable to match Anisimova’s bravery at the All England Club.

The collapses in composure were reminiscent of her early career – and something she seemed to have put behind her when she claimed three Grand Slam titles in the space of 20 months.

But more heartbreak appeared to be on the cards for Sabalenka as Pegula – buoyed by a raucous crowd – came out on top in the first set.

Sabalenka struck the first blow in the opener, swatting away a booming forehand winner to break early, but a poor service game allowed Pegula straight back in.

The top seed’s irritation grew as more unforced errors crept into her game and the crowd loudly put their backing behind Pegula, who broke again and wrapped up the opener in style with a confident love hold.

After taking an off-court break before the start of the second set, Sabalenka returned with a renewed determination and quickly went 3-0 up thanks to a more clinical approach to her shot-making.

That gap was enough to see her through the remainder of the set and force a decider, which Sabalenka took control of from the off with an immediate break.

The 27-year-old furiously fought off Pegula’s attempts to break back and let out a huge roar after wrapping up the victory on her third match point.

Trump to attend men’s US Open final Sunday

0

President Trump will attend the men’s U.S. Open tennis final on Sunday in New York, a White House official told The Hill.

Semafor first reported on the president’s trip to Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows for the match, set for 2 p.m.

The matchup for the final isn’t yet decided, and no American men are left in the open. The men’s semi-finals will take place on Friday, with Novak Djokovic playing Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner playing Felix Auger-Aliassime. The women’s championship will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Trump, who is originally from New York, last attended the U.S. Open in 2015 while he was a presidential candidate. He watched Serena and Venus Williams play in the women’s quarterfinals.

Trump has gone to a handful of popular sporting events since returning to the White House. He went to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in New Jersey in July and joined Chelsea FC on the field to celebrate its victory.

The president also attended the Super Bowl in February, when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans, and attended an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event in April, alongside top administration officials.

Warner Bros. Discovery sues Midjourney AI for copying its characters

0

Warner Bros. Discovery is suing Midjourney over claims the AI startup “brazenly dispenses its intellectual property as if it were its own,” as reported earlier by The Hollywood Reporter. In the lawsuit, Warner Bros. Discovery alleges that Midjourney generated “countless” infringing images and videos of its copyrighted characters, including Superman, Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo, and more.

Warner Bros. Discovery accuses Midjourney of reproducing, displaying, and distributing “unauthorized derivatives” of its intellectual property through its AI image and video generation tools. Throughout the lawsuit, Warner Bros. Discovery shares several examples of how Midjourney’s AI tools seem to have generated images of copyrighted characters, like Wonder Woman, Tweety, the Power Puff Girls, and even Rick and Morty in response to prompts asking to see the characters in certain situations.

Additionally, Warner Bros. Discover claims that Midjourney will generate infringing images even if prompts don’t mention a specific character. For instance, Midjourney allegedly generated downloadable images of Superman, Batman, and Flash after receiving the prompt, “classic comic book superhero battle.” Midjourney is facing a similar copyright lawsuit from Disney and Universal, which called the company’s AI image generator a “virtual vending machine” that generates “endless authorized copies” of their work.

Warner Bros. Discovery claims Midjourney is aware of the “breathtaking scope of its piracy and copyright infringement” but refuses to protect copyright holders.

“It is hard to imagine copyright infringement that is any more willful than what Midjourney is doing here,” the lawsuit states. “Midjourney is purposefully exploiting Warner Bros. Discovery’s valuable intellectual property to attract subscribers to Midjourney, and it is profiting by providing subscribers with endless copies and derivatives of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Copyrighted Works.”

Warner Bros. Discovery is suing Midjourney for damages related to the alleged copyright infringement, and is asking the court to block Midjourney from copying, displaying, or distributing its intellectual property, as well as to stop the company from offering AI tools without copyright protection measures. Midjourney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
